Old Bed End

Old Bed End, originally uploaded by Arkitekt878.

One of the things I liked about the beaches at Weston-super-Mare and Uphill was the amount of flotsam and jetsom that was washed up, especially in the wintertime. I came upon this old bed-end one morning and just knew it would be good for some high dynamic range (HDR) photography. Having a reasonable sky behind it helps as well.

This wasn’t arranged. It’s exactly as I found it, The footprints aren’t mine, someone else had been on the beach earlier and had walked out to look at this.

This was a handheld 3 exposure HDR (-2,0,+2) using the Fuji Finepix S9600. Processed with PhotoMatix and then some “Dodge and Burn” in Photoshop.

This is a beautifully composed photograph. Nicely captured.

I love this photo, the quirkiness really appeals to me, and the tone is beautiful.
