Spring is on the way….

….and with it comes a new way of looking at photo opportunities.

After a relatively mild winter here in North Wales, there are signs that Spring is really on the way. Whilst I was out doing the shoot for this weeks 52/2012 I came across these buds in our local woods.

Even the Gorse blooms have erupted and the heath was a riot of yellow colour. I’ve seen a one or two bees about and today I also noticed a few ladybirds in the garden.

I don’t know why but Spring is my favourite time of the year, maybe it’s because we are coming out of the cold dark winter nights. Or perhaps it’s just the fact that there are far more things to photograph, with much better light than the dreary dark grey days of winter.

This year I have made myself a promise. Most of my photography is about landscapes/seascapes but this year I intend to do more wildlife and the natural world that surrounds me. All too often I go searching for that amazing landscape and many times I ignore the simple photo opportunity that is right in front of me. So instead of looking through the viewfinder all the time, I’m going to do a 360 of everything that is with 10 metres of where I’m standing, before going after that amazing landscape/seascape.
