There are so many things I would be thankful for, my wife, my children but without my eyes I would not be able to see. If I couldn’t see how would I be able to take photographs. Or so I thought. When I started to research the subject of blind and visually impaired photography, I was surprised to find growing communities on Flickr with some really excellent photographs. Two groups well worth paying a visit to are;
Visually-impaired photographers in the UK
Blind Photographers
I am thankful that I have my sight, sure I am at the age now where I need glasses to read, but other than that my eyes are fine.
When I started looking at the subject of thankful I had more or less decided which photograph I would show for this week. It’s one I have shown before but it’s one of my favourite images.
Taken on a really cold day in the Snowdonia National Park, I came across this landscape purely by accident. When I’m out and about in Snowdonia, I don’t always have an itinerary of where I’m going. Sometimes I do but I’ll often deviate off my route if I see something interesting. That’s what happened here. I was heading home, intending to cut right through the National Park. Instead, purely by accident, I took a wrong turning and found myself driving alongside Llyn Ogwen. Best of all there was somewhere i could safely park the car and a good view-point to take this photograph
This picture is absolutely beautiful….you have quite a gift my friend

I came past that lake on Wednesday. Looks totally different. The sun was out, and the clouds were reflecting in the lake.

I have often wondered about visually impaired photography and what a great selection there is on your links!
And what a fabulous reward for a wrong turn!

I was out on Wednesday in this very area. With all the rain we have been having I just knew that the waterfalls and rivers would be in full flow. I wasn’t disappointed and as a bonus there was snow on the higher mountains. Not only that it was nice sunny day with some good white clouds. What more could a photographer ask for….

Truly beautiful in every sense of the word. Only a photographer with your talent can render a scene such as this and make it spectaculor. It takes a special eye and a special gift. Of that you can be thankful as well as grateful.

North Wales is a beautiful part of the country. We have lots of old castles and ancient buildings, the Snowdonia National Park and of course the coast as well
