52/2013 Week 40

52/2013 Week 40

Living on the coast as I do, I quite often see grey seals popping up to have a look at what is going on.  Usually though, it’s just a head that appears and at some distance away, so a decent photograph is out of the question.

Yesterday, whilst I was on the shore, photographing birds, this seal popped up right beside me. Not in the least bit nervous, it swam around for some time before finally diving and swimming away.

Wonderful photo with the seal, and circles of water around it.

It was a beautiful calm day, not a breath of wind and quite overcast. Sea was flat calm and the seal was hardly moving…

Hiyah Mike. Well things like this do happen. You are looking for something else and “BAM” out-of-the-blue comes something else. Right place right time and all that. Nice shot Mike. Did you get any birds by the way? Hope so. See ya sometime.

Nothing worth keeping. I did get a dodgy nuthatch later in the day but it’s slightly out of focus

Couldn’t believe it when the seal popped up and best of all I had my 500mm lens already on the camera

I think this was your lucky day and a lucky shot. The pic is excellent. I really like seeing some of the wildlife from your area.
