52 in 2015 Week 2 Bokeh

Second week and I thought I might have a problem with this one. I had an idea but just couldn’t seem to get it right, when I pressed the shutter. Yesterday I was on a photowalk in Liverpool and managed to capture this young woman walking as high winds and a high tide whipped up spray across the bridge she was on.

Then my job is done, Andrew. Must admit it was wild day. The Mersey was really high and being whipped up by the gusts of wind causing the spray. All of us on the photowalk were well wrapped up. You know, hats, gloves waterproofs etc… it was bitter cold, we even had sleet a few times during the day, but the youth of today seem to think a thin top is adequate protection.

Thank you. It was the only spot on the sea-front that was throwing up spray and I happened to find it walking around

Thank you. As soon as i saw the way the spray was being thrown up I thought I might get something. As I’m only experimenting with street photography I’m quite pleased with it

Forget bokeh! This is an awesome shot! I conveys beautifully the young woman’s struggle with the wind and water.

It was a really windy day Angela, and because of all the tall buildings around the quayside some quite strong gusts. Between two of the quays there’s a small bridge and the sea was being smashed against the sea defences causing the spray.

It was bitter cold day, Yvonne. The wind was howling in strong gusts and being on the waterfront it was whipping up the sea in a spray as it crashed against the sea wall. I just knew there would be some great photo opportunities so I hung around for a while

I like the photo! What equipment did you use for this take?

Hello Cedric. Camera was the Olympus OM-D E-M1 with the Olympus 40-150mm f4-5.6 R lens attached. Although it’s a zoom lens it’s very small and not too obtrusive. The photograph was shot at 1/400th second, f7.1 and ISO 320
