Straight away I knew where I was going to get the photographs for this weeks 52 challenge. The workshops at the National Slate Museum in Llanberis. Not only that I knew I was going to give both the photographs a grungy HDR look. Not to everyone’s taste but as I’ve said before “My Photograph, My Vision”
Wandering around the museum I found this collection of metal canisters. They already were rusty but the HDR treatment has served to enhance the rust. Don’t you agree?
I love the slate museum, it’s so dark and dingy in places and yet you can get great photographs. Just like this one from the Blacksmiths forge.
If you are ever in this area I really do recommend a visit to the Slate Museum. Until next weeks 52 challenge.
I think you’re right Mike, the metal cans look brilliant. Nice work and thanks again by the way for popping into the bowling on Monday. Great to see your smiling face.

For something like the Slate Museum you can get away with it Steve, I wouldn’t use it for every photo. It was good to see you.

My comment went away. As I was writing… the shots that you produced gives one the impression of being there. That’s a lot of steel that made up the equipment for the blacksmith. I can only imagine how hot it must have been in that place and what it did to employees lungs.

There are three or four forges at the museum which is quite large. This amateur video, shot in 2013 gives you an idea of just what’s there, It’s a bit jerky and sound quality is poor. generally the language you hear when it’s not English is Welsh. It’s heavily spoken in this area. https://youtu.be/hYBkZgJv_n0

I don’t normally go this grungy with HDR for photographs but I think the old workshops need it.
