It took me a long time to get a photograph like this.
The lighthouse I can get any time, but those rays of light are something else again. As Ken Rockwell once said;
No matter how advanced your camera you still need to be responsible for getting it to the right place at the right time and pointing it in the right direction to get the photo you want. – Ken Rockwell
How true that is. When I went to the beach that evening I didn’t expect to see a cloud formation like that. So I was lucky. but sometimes that’s all you need..

I know, Beatrice. Sometimes you just get lucky, but then you have to make the most of that luck

I agree! I think that the beauty of a picture depends partly on the luck of being in the right place at the right time but also on the cleverness of the photographer. To have a ‘good eye’ is very important…and you’ve got it definitely!! 🙂

We usually can get a few with rays pointing down, but none pointing up or across, so far…pawsome photo! =^,,^=

Even though it has taken you, maybe years, to get this exclusive shot, your persistence surely paid off. It is an incredible image and one of your best. I’ve seen just about all the photos that you have posted of Talacre lighthouse but I think this one maybe the best or among the top images of one of your favorite subjects.

As much as I like it Yvonne, I can see a few technical errors which I could have sorted out before posting it. But the composition is one of the best I’m ever likely to get at Talacre.

I don’t see any flaws, just an incredible scene.

There’s a slight halo around the lighthouse which is more noticeable top right window.
