For some time now I have been thinking about the way I write posts for Say It With A Camera. Last year when i was in Japan I published a series of daily posts with just one photograph and these were very popular amongst readers.
Now I’m not thinking of publishing a post every day, more like one or two per week, but I will include more information about the camera settings and post processing in Lightroom/Photoshop. For Example;

I shot this about 0845 in the morning using the Olympus OM-D E-M1 and the M Zuiko 12-40mm f2.8. This lens is one from the Olympus line of Pro lenses.
Not much processing for this one. I did crop the bottom, mainly to take out some weeds which were distracting and didn’t offer anything to the overall photograph. Some adjustments to the Highlights and Shadows, it was rather dark under the bridge, but other than a bit of sharpening, that’s all I really did to this one.
So that’s the sort of thing I’m thinking of doing for future posts. What do you think? Or should I continue the way I was, giving more information about the location, rather than the technical details.
I really would love to hear your thoughts on this – Mike
Mike, I enjoy your posts as they are now. Why don’t you continue writing as you do and occasionally throw in a technical post.

Thank you Daniel. As I’ve just said to Khurt what about putting the technical part as a caption to the photograph i.e Camera, lens iso, aperture shutteter speed?

Yes, that’s a good idea.

I like both technical details and location details. I’d also like you to include the occasional post displaying film photos.

Not quite sure what you mean by film photos, I use a digital camera, but thank you for your comment

Personally, I’d rather read about your experience of the location. I don’t much care about your gear.

Couldn’t put it any plainer Khurt. Thank you for your comment. The more I have been thinking about it I would say you are probaly right. I don’t go bragging about what gear I have when I meet up with other photographers so why should I do it here,
Although I have bben asked before in comments, what camera, lens etc do I use. What about putting that as a caption to the photograph?

To satisfy the gear curious, I put the image metadata into my image captions. I use an automated process: https://islandinthenet.com/?s=Lightroom+WordPress+
I hope that helps.

I’m interested in everything. I like the stories and as I learn more about photography, I appreciate the technical aspects.

Mike just post what you are comfortable doing. What any of us want does not matter. 🙂
