Sunsets here in North Wales can be quite dramatic, In the Winter time we see the sun set over the mountains in the distance. In summer time the sunset swings round more towards the sea. Last Sunday we had an amazing one, this photograph doesn’t do it justice, one of the best I have see in a good few years,

Monday donned bright and sunny, clear blue skies, biting cold wind and it didn’t look like the sunset was going to be all that great. Not with clear skies like they were. But my cloud prediction app was reporting heavier cloud in the late afternoon so I decided to hit the beach and see if I could get a sunset. Clouds were starting to form but nothing like the previous night. From the dunes I can see right along the coast to the Carneddau and Snowdon mountain ranges and it’s pretty obvious sunset was a bust.

Even out to sea, almost no cloud. All I was doing was getting colder and colder by the minute so time to head home.

By the time I had got off the dunes and into the abandoned Frith gardens the sun had truly set, but I decided to go for a silhouette of the old bandstand, just to finish my short and cold trip off.

So it was a bust. The photographs really aren’t that interesting, but I got out for an hour or so and my ankle seemed to be holding up well.
That’s all from me. I forgot to say, First photograph is from my phone, The other three from my regular camera
They’re still beautiful images, Mike. I saw the top sunset too. Very unusual and totally breathtaking. Well captured.

Apologies for late reply to your comment. I’ve been caught up in trying to arrange an overseas photo trip which has proved to be a bit of a nightmare. Fortunately it’s all sorted now.
I do think we get some really good sunsets here in North Wales, I know over the years I’ve photographed some great ones.

The sunset may have been a bust, but I do like the photos.

Thank you Jerry. I’m still of the opinion it not my best work. Maybe I’m being too critical.

Always a photographer’s view – it’s good but! To me the measure of the photographer is getting a shot that makes somebody go “wow” when the conditions are NOT ideal.
So – good work!
Hope you enjoy the trip – look forward to seeing the results!

I still think they are not that great.

As far as sunsets go- there are good ones mediocre ones, and then brilliant ones. I think these are all very good with the top one dazzling. I have no idea why but I liked the ones that your regular camera produced and I don’t know if it is a psychological idea because you said it was from your phone or not, even though it really is the most eye catching, if one is looking to be dazzled.

I’ve decided that I prefer the photographs that my camera takes, Yvonne. Phone will only be for the odd photograph, i.e family snap.
I’d also like to apologize for my late reply to your comment. I’ve been caught up in trying to arrange an overseas photo trip at the end of this month (Egypt) which has proved to be a bit of a nightmare, trying to co-ordinate flights from UK to Cairo to meet up with a train and then a boat on the Nile. Fortunately it’s all sorted now.

My goodness, don’t worry about replying. And to be realistic, I have commented on on more than several sites and those bloggers don’t bother to answer anyone. I keep up with new blogs that I decide to follow and if that blogger does not bother to reply after I have commented 2–3 times then I unfollow them. I have yet to figure out why those folks even bother with a blog. I suppose it is an “all about me” type of thing. The Egyptinan trip sounds exciting. Do be careful, stay healthy, and get lots of exciitng photos.

cool shots. It is hard to differentiate between camera and smartphone pictures.

Only when I closely look at them in Adobe Lightroom can I see the difference, Arv.

I love sunsets and photos of them. Every sunset is different. There’s not one day that finishes with the same sunset. They’re all unique. Beautiful.
