52/2013 Week 49

Bit late with this one which is from last week. Due to the storm I was unable to post as we were without broadband and telephone for two to three days.

The outage made me realise how much I use the internet to research information for my photographs, to maintain my blog and keep in touch with other photographers via Facebook and Google+.

If it came to it I could probably do with out it, but could you?

    1. Must admit, first day I was fine Susan, until I found out my neighbours were all working with a different telco. Being an ex telecom engineer I couldn’t work out why only our telco was out and for so long. We share same infrastructure as other telco suppliers and they should have put in alternative routing to get round the problem. That’s what was frustrating for me.

  1. The sea looks very angry and I’m sure that you kept a safe distance to get this capture. I remember you writing that the beach can give way while standing there and then you’d be gone in a flash- or at least that’s what I’m thinking.

    1. For those photographs, Yvonne I was standing on concrete. Further up the coast I was going to stand on the sand dunes but thought better of it for the very reason you mentioned. But even concrete is not safe. It now looks like the force of the waves broke through a wall which caused the flooding.

  2. Ours was out of action for under a day, but I thought it was pretty bad/frustrating. How did we ever do without it! Grannies must have waited weeks for the latest pictures of grandbabies…

    1. I know I was really frustrated because call the information we were getting from our telco was “we are aware of a problem”. Yet our neighbour who uses a different telco was perfectly ok. The big thing that was reall frustrating is the both use the same infrastructure, so why did one work and one didn’t .
